Ane Brun is a bluesy/folksy/even rockabilly voice on top of very, very solid song-writing with guitar and the random other instruments (cello, piano, horns, etc...). Great lyrics, exceptional instrumentation, and just great song after song. She can have an Ani DiFranco feel, Tori Amos feel, or even a Norah Jones feel, only she's far better at what she does than any of them. I started listening to her album "A Temporary Dive" to and from work (the only one I have at the moment) and I noticed that I wasn't skipping any songs (I habitually skip past "2nd-tier" songs). The whole freaking album is great.
Oh, and you'd never know it, because her accent is non-existent, her lyrics so poetic and her musical feel so American, but she's Norwegian. And she's normal looking. So that's probably the only reason she doesn't own the singer-songwriter crown.
